Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today pressed Attorney General Loretta Lynch for information about the thousands of federal prison inmates who will be released in November as a result of the U.S. Sentencing Commission’s decision to lower federal sentencing for all drug trafficking and distribution crimes.

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., the House Judiciary Committee’s Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled “Sanctuary Cities: A Threat to Public Safety.” The hearing will examine dangerous policies adopted by some state and local governments that refuse to honor the federal government’s authority to enforce immigration laws, and the Obama Administration’s complicity in this problem.

This bipartisan bill – introduced by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and a bipartisan group of Members – takes steps to combat the ever increasing problem of abusive patent litigation.  H.R. 9 was recently reported out of the House Judiciary Committee by an overwhelming vote and is expected to be considered by the full House of Representatives.

This bipartisan bill – authored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), Ranking Member John Conyers (D-Mich.), Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.), and Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations Subcommittee Ranking Member Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) – reforms the United States Secret Service.
