Washington, D.C. – The House of Representatives today approved a bill to protect the Second Amendment and curb gun violence, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 (H.R. 38). This bipartisan bill, sponsored by Representative Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), allows people with a state-issued concealed carry license or permit, or individuals who are citizens of states that do not require a permit to carry a concealed firearm, to carry a concealed firearm in any other state that allows concealed carry, as long as the individual follows the laws of that state. Washington, D.C. – The House of Representatives today unanimously approved by a vote of 409-0 the Stopping Abusive Female Exploitation (SAFE) Act (H.R. 3317). This bill, introduced by Congressman Dave Trott (R-Mich.) and approved by the House Judiciary Committee last month, prevents a horrific crime against women and young girls by increasing the maximum penalty for female genital mutilation. The Center for Disease Control estimates that at least half a million females in the United States have undergone genital mutilation or are at risk of having it done.
