Washington, D.C. -- On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law will hold a legislative hearing entitled “H.R. 3553, the Bankruptcy Administration Improvement Act of 2017.”  H.R. 3553, which was introduced on July 17, 2017, amends the Bankruptcy Code to raise the compensation of trustees in chapter 7 bankruptcy cases. Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) today called on the Trump Administration to consult Congress immediately regarding the refugee ceiling for the coming year as required by law. Earlier this week, Department of State Secretary Mike Pompeo announced the fiscal year 2019 refugee ceiling without having first consulted with Congress. Chairman Goodlatte: “The law is clear: the Administration must consult with Congress prior to the President’s determination of the annual refugee ceiling. But this did not happen this year, and the Trump Administration has no excuse for not complying with their obligation under the law.

Washington, D.C. -- The House of Representatives today approved the Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act of 2018 (S. 2946), companion legislation to H.R. 5954, authored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Ranking Member Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.).  This legislation protects American victims of international terrorism and ensures access to compensation for those impacted by acts of terror.  The Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act makes needed improvements to the Antiterrorism Act of 1992 to better ensure that American victims of international terrorism can obtain justice in U.S.
