Washington, D.C. – On Friday, February 27, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., the Constitution and Civil Justice Subcommittee will hold a hearing to examine the state of class action lawsuits ten years after the enactment of the Class Action Fairness Act, legislation authored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte.  The Class Action Fairness Act, which was signed into law on February 18, 2005, was designed to curb the widespread abuse of frivolous class action lawsuits, while prese

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:30 p.m., the House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on the resources and functions of the Copyright Office.  Currently, the Copyright Office is located within the Library of Congress and the Register of Copyrights reports to the Librarian of Congress.  This hearing, which is part of the House Judiciary Committee’s ongoing review of U.S. copyright law, will also examine the merits of this dependent structure.
