Today, the House will complete its work on a comprehensive legislative package to combat the terrible epidemic of opioid abuse, which is ravaging our country. We have all heard the grim statistics.  129 people die every day from a drug overdose. That is more than 47,000 a year.  These people are our neighbors, friends, and loved ones.  They come from all walks of life and all communities. They need our help.

Washington, D.C. – The House Judiciary Committee today approved the ADA Education and Reform Act of 2015 (H.R. 3765) by a bipartisan vote of 15-6. This bill, authored by House Judiciary Committee member Ted Poe (R-Texas), requires the Disability Rights Section of the Department of Justice to develop a program to educate state and local governments and property owners on strategies for promoting access to public accommodations for persons with a disability.
