Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) today delivered the following remarks during the House Judiciary Committee’s markup of the Michael Davis, Jr. and Danny Oliver In Support of State and Local Law Enforcement Act (H.R. 2431).
Chairman Goodlatte: In the 100 days since President Trump signed Executive Orders making sense of our nation’s immigration enforcement priorities, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has increased immigration arrests 38% over the same period last year. Nearly 75% of the arrests were of convicted criminals.

Washington, D.C. – Adding to the House Judiciary Committee’s work to protect children from exploitation and abuse, the Committee today approved two bills to protect young athletes from sexual abuse and provide victim-centered support to survivors of human trafficking.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) praised today’s Committee approval of these two bills:
“The federal government’s most important duties are to keep Americans safe and carry out justice. Children are the most innocent and vulnerable among us and warrant the strongest protection of the law.
