WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight will hold a field hearing on Monday, September 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. ET. The field hearing, "Victims of Violent Crime," will examine violent crime in Charlotte, North Carolina and the surrounding areas looking at repeat offenders and lenient pretrial release policies and decisions among others.

  • Steve Federico, Father of murder victim Logan Federico and Charlotte suburbs resident
  • Officer Justin Campbell, Police officer with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department
  • Michael Woody, Owner and CEO of 828 Bail Bonds, and NC Representative for the National Association of Bail Agents

Per the building's policy, a form of ID is required to enter, and all attendees must go through TSA-like security. The general public is not permitted to bring cell phones or smartwatches inside. A limited number of lockboxes are available for storing devices, but it is strongly recommended that you leave them in your car or at home.
