Missing and Murdered Indigenous People: Strengthening Public Safety in Tribal Communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance will hold a hearing on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET. The hearing, "Missing and Murdered Indigenous People: Strengthening Public Safety in Tribal Communities," will examine the disproportionate rates of violent crime and the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people in American Indian and Alaska Native communities, with a focus on coordination among Tribal, federal, state, and local law enforcement to improve public safety in Indian Country.
