Five Years Later – The Music Modernization Act
The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet will hold a field hearing on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. CT in Nashville, Tennessee. The hearing, "Five Years Later – The Music Modernization Act," will examine the impact of the Orrin G. Hatch-Bob Goodlatte Music Modernization Act (MMA), five years after it was signed into law in 2018. The hearing will examine the system created by the MMA to administer blanket mechanical licenses and collect and distribute mechanical licensing royalties. The hearing will also explore whether the legislation is operating as intended by Congress and consider reforms.
