Washington, D.C. – Today, President Donald Trump signed into law the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, a bicameral, bipartisan bill that combats the opioid crisis. The McCabe memos are documents and communications written by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe that memorialize discussions, meetings, or correspondence he had with senior officials.

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m., the Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations Subcommittee will hold a hearing titled, “Post-PASPA: An Examination of Sports Betting in America.” In May 2018, in Murphy v. NCAA, the Supreme Court struck down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) as unconstitutional.

Washington, D.C. – Bipartisan leaders from committees of jurisdiction in both the House and Senate today announced an agreement on sweeping legislation to combat the opioid crisis. In June, the House passed H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act by a vote of 396-14. On September 17th, the Senate passed the Opioid Crisis Response Act of 2018 by a vote of 99-1.

Washington, D.C. – The House of Representatives today approved the Ashanti Alert Act of 2018 (H.R. 5075) by voice vote to create an alert system for missing adults. The bill is named after Ashanti Billie, who went missing at the age of 19 in September 2017 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Ashanti was abducted shortly after arriving to work and tragically was murdered by her captor. The Ashanti Alert Act assists local and regional law enforcement in locating missing adults, like Ashanti Billie.
