With support from Biggs and Lesko, House passes bill expanding access to Arizona courts
July 10, 2019
WASHINGTON — Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement after H.R. 1569 passed the House.
“Courts in Arizona will better serve the people of their state thanks to the leadership of Representatives Debbie Lesko and Andy Biggs. Their sensible legislation will give Arizonans easier access to federal courts so they don’t have to travel hours away to a courthouse in another area of the state.”
H.R. 1569 amends federal law to make better use of judicial and attorney resources. This legislation will allow district court judges to hear cases in the existing federal courthouses in Flagstaff and Yuma. Without this change to federal law, Arizonans would have to continue traveling to Globe, Phoenix, Prescott or Tucson to take part in federal cases.
H.R. 1569 now goes to the Senate for consideration.
