Kyiv, Ukraine – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) led a Image removed.bipartisan congressional delegation to Ukraine to meet with Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Prime Minister Yatsenyuk expressed appreciation to the members of the delegation for the Congress’ recent passage of the Ukraine Freedom Support Act, which is awaiting the President’s signature.  The legislation calls on President Obama to provide lethal and non-lethal aid to the government of Ukraine and imposes additional economic sanctions on various sectors of the Russian economy.

Chairman Goodlatte: “Russia’s aggressive actions and continued interference in Ukraine are unacceptable but despite the ongoing conflict we saw a hopeful, unified Ukraine. We saw a country that is working hard to make changes that will ensure a brighter future, including the election of a new parliament and the appointment of new cabinet ministers.

“Today’s meeting between our congressional delegation and Prime Minister Yatsenyuk highlights the importance of the United States’ relationship with Ukraine.  Our message to Prime Minister Yatsenyuk was simple: the American people stand with the people of Ukraine.”
