Goodlatte Welcomes Rep. Jason Smith to House Judiciary Committee
Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) today welcomed Representative Jason Smith (R-Mo.) as the newest member of the House Judiciary Committee. Representative Smith was sworn in as a Member of the 113th Congress on June 5, 2013.
Chairman Goodlatte: “I am pleased to welcome Jason Smith to the House Judiciary Committee. His background as an attorney and a small business owner make him particularly well suited to the work of our Committee. I look forward to working with Jason on the many important issues that will be debated before the Judiciary Committee.”
Representative Smith: “The Judiciary Committee will be tackling some of the biggest issues facing our country. From immigration reform to recent reports of government surveillance, the Judiciary Committee will play a key role in crafting national policy. Background: Jason Smith represents the 8th District of Missouri. He received his law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. Prior to coming to Congress, Smith served in the Missouri House of Representatives where he served as Majority Whip and then Speaker Pro Tem.
