Goodlatte Statement on Retirement of Secret Service Director Clancy
February 14, 2017
Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) today issued the following statement on the announcement that U.S. Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy plans to retire in March:
“Director Clancy has served our nation honorably for decades by protecting several Presidents, their families, and the White House complex from harm. Under Director Clancy’s leadership, the Secret Service did a stellar job protecting presidential candidates during the 2016 election. He also helped restore professionalism at the agency after a series of security lapses and incidents of misconduct over the past few years. I have the utmost respect for Director Clancy and his leadership, and I wish him all the best as he leaves the Secret Service.”
