Goodlatte Statement on IPEC Report

March 22, 2018

Washington, D.C. -- House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) issued the following statement on the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator’s (IPEC) Annual Report to Congress. “The intellectual property industry in America is a major driving force and job-creating engine of our economy. We must recognize the importance of our intellectual property by better securing its protection. “I am encouraged by the IPEC’s annual report, which lays out a thorough strategy to continue economic growth by ensuring American innovation is protected and able to flourish.  In particular, I applaud the Administration for seeking to address the rampant piracy and counterfeiting, much of which originates overseas, through our trade negotiations with other countries. “Finally, I commend Mr. Amin, the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator, for his efforts to date and I plan to convene a hearing soon to further examine this report.  I look forward to continuing our work with the Administration to strengthen the laws that promote investment, innovation and creativity at home.”
