October 5, 2017
Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) today issued the following statement on the Senate’s confirmation of Lee Francis Cissna as Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS): “Mr. Cissna is uniquely qualified to run U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. USCIS is tasked with overseeing our nation’s immigration system and is responsible for approving immigration benefits ranging from short-term visas to citizenship. Mr. Cissna has devoted his career to improving our nation’s immigration laws and securing our borders, and I am confident that his leadership at USCIS will preserve our history as a nation of immigrants and help restore the integrity of our immigration system.”
