Goodlatte and Bachus Statement on Proposed Comcast-Time Warner Cable Merger

Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law Subcommittee Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) released the statement below following the announcement of the proposed merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable:
“The proposed merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable could have a significant impact on competition in the video and broadband marketplace. The House Judiciary Committee has a robust and lengthy record of exercising its jurisdiction over our antitrust laws and competition. The Committee intends to continue that record by conducting a hearing to examine the proposed merger to ensure that the interests of American consumers and overall competition in the marketplace are protected.”
