Collins statement on Mueller press conference

May 29, 2019
WASHINGTON — Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement after Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s press conference. “For the past two years Robert Mueller has done something no one thought was possible in Washington — stay out of the spotlight and diligently conduct his work. While I had hoped he would come before the committee and answer questions from lawmakers, Robert Mueller has led an extraordinary life of public service and is entitled to his life as a private citizen once again. “Special Counsel Mueller confirmed today what we knew months ago when his report was released: there was no collusion and no obstruction. Relitigating the 2016 election and reinvestigating the special counsel’s findings will only further divide our country. I appreciate Special Counsel Mueller highlighting the grave threat Russian interference in our elections poses to our democracy. "It is time to move on from the investigation and start focusing on real solutions for the American people, like fixing the crisis at the southern border and stopping China from stealing our intellectual property. I look forward to working with Chairman Nadler on these important initiatives.”
