Collins requests explanation for FBI’s excessive use of force in Roger Stone arrest

January 30, 2019
WASHINGTON — Ranking Member Doug Collins (R-Ga.) today sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting an explanation of the excessive force used in the arrest of Roger Stone on January 25. “Although none of the seven charges against Stone is considered to be a violent crime, the FBI demonstrated an immense show of force during an early-morning raid on Stone’s home. According to the media reports and video footage from the raid, approximately two dozen FBI agents wearing tactical gear swept across Stone’s lawn ‘wielding M4 rifles,'" wrote Collins to Wray. “Given the fact the FBI is embroiled in a scandal related to the origins of this investigation, we are perplexed about why the FBI would use such a show of force to arrest an elderly man,” Collins added. Collins’ letter outlines several questions regarding Stone’s arrest. The full letter to Wray is available here.
