Chairman Jordan Subpoenas President Biden's Ghostwriter

March 22, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) subpoenaed Mark Zwonitzer, President Biden's ghostwriter, after Zwonitzer failed to provide the Committee with documents, including any transcripts and audio and video recordings of his interviews with President Biden for President Biden's memoirs. Despite President Biden's denials that he never shared classified materials with his ghostwriter, Special Counsel Hur's report unequivocally stated that President Biden read classified information to his ghostwriter "nearly verbatim, sometimes for an hour or more at a time" and "at least three times" during these interviews.

Special Counsel Hur's report contains references to "audio recordings" and "transcripts" of Zwonitzer's multiple conversations with President Biden related to his ghostwriting work of President Biden's memoirs. In particular, Special Counsel Hur noted that once FBI agents contacted Zwonitzer relating to his ghostwriting work on President Biden's memoirs, he "provided investigators records that included near-verbatim transcripts and . . . audio recordings." Special Counsel Hur also noted that shortly after he began his investigation, Zwonitzer took steps to conceal some of these recordings and transcripts.
