WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement will hold a hearing on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET. The hearing, "The Continuing Tragedy of Sanctuary Laws," will focus on the deadly cost of sanctuary policies in California, Oregon, and New York.
WITNESSES:
- Elizabeth Carter, Mother of William Micah Carter, who was killed in November 2025 by an illegal alien truck driver, who had been issued a commercial driver's license by California
- Anatoly Varfolomeev, Father of Anya Varfolomeev, who was killed by an illegal alien drunk driver in California in November 2021
- Frederick Akshar II, Sheriff, Broome County, New York, who is a plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging one of New York's sanctuary laws
