WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government will hold a hearing on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. ET. The hearing, "Balancing the Federal Budget: Examining Proposals for a Balanced Budget Amendment," will focus on proposals for a constitutional amendment that would mandate a balanced federal budget. The fiscal year 2025 national deficit currently stands at around $1.78 trillion and the national debt is at $38 trillion and counting. The country's fiscal crisis is reaching a breaking point and Congress must balance its budget just like American households.
