HJC to Examine AT&T and T-Mobile Proposed Merger

Washington, D.C. – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) today announced that the House Judiciary Committee will examine the proposed merger of telecommunications giants AT&T and T-Mobile.  Below is a statement from Chairman Smith regarding the proposal.

Chairman Smith: “The proposed AT&T and T-Mobile merger raises important questions about competition in the telecom industry and the effect on American consumers. Congress must take a close look at the plan to ensure that the proposed merger promotes a healthy and competitive telecommunications market.  The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to examine the merger and its likely impact on the American economy and the future of wireless communications.”
